Police, firefighters and paramedics from Palatine responded about 12:56 a.m. Sunday, August 21, 2022 to a report of a crash involving a building with injuries at Palatine Road and Smith Street in Palatine.
Police received a report that the driver was arguing with another person at the scene after the crash. The crashed vehicle was located on the south side of Palatine Road where Smith ends at the intersection in a T-style intersection.
The crashed SUV was possibly southbound on Smith Street before the crash occurred. The driver was being investigated for the possibility of DUI. The patient was evaluated by paramedics, but information was not initially available regarding whether paramedics transported the driver to a hospital.
No pedestrians were injured and no additional ambulances were assigned to the scene.
Firefighters also checked for structural damage in case the SUV hit the 3-story brick apartment/condo building nearby on the other side of the trees.
