Police, firefighters and paramedics from Carol Stream responded about 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 30, 2022 to a report of crash involving a motorcycle and an SUV.
Upon arrival, responding police officers discovered an adult male motorcyclist unresponsive on the ground. The first responding police officers administered aid to the male crash victim prior to the arrival of Carol Stream Fire Protection District firefighters and paramedics. The first fire unit on arrival reported CPR being administered to a crash victim.
Carol Stream Fire Protection District paramedics transported the motorcyclist to Central DuPage Hospital, where the male victim succumbed to his injuries, according to Carol Stream Police Department. The driver of the SUV did not initially report any injuries from the crash.
The Carol Stream Police Department investigated the crash scene with assistance from the Metropolitan Emergency Response and Investigation Team (MERIT). Preliminary investigative results and collection of witness statements indicate no other vehicles were involved in the crash.
Following the on-scene investigation, the crash investigation continues with the Carol Stream Police Department Traffic Safety Unit. Gary Avenue is a 4-lane highway with a center left turn lane for northbound and southbound traffic. The Speed Limit on Gary Avenue is 45 MPH according to Google Street View images from October 2021.
Elk Trail is a side street with access to commercial and residential properties. Elk Trail is a 2-lane street with a center left turn lane for eastbound and westbound traffic.
