Cook County Sheriff’s Deputies, and firefighters and paramedics from Long Grove responded about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, August 30, 2022 to a report of a motorcycle crash with a motorcyclist down at Lake Cook Road and Old Hicks Road near Long Grove and Palatine.
Upon arrival of fire command, additional resources were requested for an extrication response. A second ambulance was assigned from Palatine, and a Battalion Chief and a Tower Ladder were assigned from Buffalo Grove. The motorcyclist was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Apparently the crash involved the motorcycle and a black or dark-colored Chevrolet sedan. Both the motorcycle and the Chevrolet were located near the right lane of eastbound Lake Cook Road and Old Hicks Road, which is just south of the exit ramp from the northbound Route 53 spur.
An extended crash investigation was underway Tuesday night. Eastbound Lake Cook Road is closed at Hicks Road (Route 53). Old Hicks Road is located about 1500 feet east of Hicks Road (Route 53). Also, Old Hicks Road is located between Hicks Road (Route 53) and the Route 53 spur. It’s confusing, but the Route 53 Spur is north of Dundee Road (Route 68). Northbound lanes of Route 53 head west on Dundee Road (with Route 68), northwest on Rand Road (with US 12), and then northeast on Hicks Road into Long Grove.
