Police and firefighters from Los Angeles responded about 12:01 p.m. Friday, August 5, 2022 to a report of a single-vehicle crash into a home at 1766 South Walgrove Avenue in the Mar Vista neighborhood in Los Angeles
Firefighters discovered that a passenger vehicle struck a 738 square foot two-story home and came to rest well within the home. The crash caused structural compromise and caused heavy fire to erupt in the structure, prior to arrival of firefighters.
Fifty-nine firefighters worked for 65 minutes to access, confine and fully extinguish the stubborn flames within the heavily damaged structure, according to Los Angeles Fire Department. Firefighters also rescued one female adult found within the vehicle. The female was transported by LAFD Paramedics to an area hospital, where she was listed in critical condition. No other injuries reported.
Heche was exposed to smoke for over eight minutes before her car was pulled out with Heavy Rescue 3’s Rotator Tow crane. Her car was pulled out of the house, and then firefighters and paramedics rescued her out the passenger side of the car. While she was transferred on a gurnee from the car to Rescue Ambulance 63, she suddenly emerged from under the gurnee sheets and raised her head and upper body. She was loaded into the ambulance and transported to an area hospital.
Witnesses say Heche’s Mini-Cooper was speeding about 60 MPH northeast on Preston Way, and then crossed Walgrove Avenue and drove straight into a house at 1766 Walgrove Avenue.
LAFD PIO Captain Erik Scott was en route. Media Inquiries: LAFD PIO and LAPD West Traffic Division (Incident #1736);
