Police, firefighters and paramedics from Arlington Heights responded about 9:44 a.m. Thursday, July 21, 2021 to a report of a truck fire next to a house in the block of 600 East Mayfair Street in Arlington Heights.
Firefighters and paramedics arrived to find an aerial tree trimming truck on fire in the backyard of a single-family residence, and an injured tree trimmer. The fire involved the truck cab, and was quickly extinguished. The injured tree trimmer was treated and transported to a nearby hospital by Arlington Heights Fire Department paramedics.
The aerial bucket was up in the air while a tree trimmer was removing branches from a large tree in the back yard. The truck started on fire with the tree trimmer in the extended bucket above. The tree trimmer jumped out of the bucket, and was injured in the fall from a height.
Removal and towing of the truck should be interesting because the truck engine is destroyed, and initially it was unclear how the bucket and boom would be lowered on the forestry bucket truck.
The information in this article is an early report published before any summary information was confirmed or released by police or fire authorities.
