Motorcycle crash on northbound Route 53 south of Palatine Rd., Palatine YouTube Tips ⓘ
Illinois State Police and firefighters and paramedics from Palatine responded about 8:12 p.m. Monday, July 11, 2022 to a report of a motorcycle crash on northbound Route 53 south of Palatine Road near Palatine. A 9-1-1 caller reported that the motorcyclist was traveling at a high speed when he lost control and fell into a ditch.
Firefighter/paramedics on arrival discovered a motorcycle down in a ditch between Route 53 and Lancelot Lane with the motorcyclist up and walking. The motorcyclist was treated and transported to Northwest Community Hospital. A witness at the scene said the motorcyclist was struggling to control “vibrating” handlebars before the crash occurred.
Neighbors in the townhouse subdivision are concerned with a frequent number of crashes this summer and past years. Many crashed vehicles end up in the neighborhood near Lancelot Lane. There is no sturdy barrier to prevent vehicles from intruding from Route 53 into the neighborhood. Noise is also a concern, since there is no noise barrier wall protecting the neighborhood from Route 53. According to one neighbor, there is a dip in the pavement in the northbound lanes of Route 53 that causes a loud boom when trucks travel over the dip.
