The investigation of a domestic stabbing incident Monday morning in a townhouse on Charter Point Drive in Arlington Heights has determined that a resident at the townhouse in the block of 1900 Charter Point Drive, Michael Curnow, followed through with a preplanned act of domestic violence when he stabbed his wife with a knife.
Curnow’s wife suffered a penetrating wound to her abdomen. Following the attack on his wife, Michael Curnow used the same knife to cause a superficial cut along his neck. Both individuals were treated and released from the hospital. Michael Curnow was arrested upon discharge and transported in custody to the Arlington Heights Police Department.
Michael Curnow told detectives he planned the violent attack in advance of Monday’s action. Detectives reviewed known case facts with the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office. Michael Curnow, a male age 60, is charged with one count each of Attempted Murder and Aggravated Battery.

Police, firefighters and paramedics from Arlington Heights responded about 7:00 a.m. Monday, July 11, 2022 to a report of a stabbing in the block of 1900 Charter Point Drive in Arlington Heights. The incident is initially believed to be domestic-related. Arlington Heights Police Department stated Monday afternoon that a 9-1-1 call indicated a violent domestic battery just occurred between a husband and his wife, both of whom live at this residence. The two were the sole occupants of the townhouse at the time of the incident.
A second ambulance was dispatched to the scene immediately after police discovered two stabbing victims. Arlington Heights Police Department stated that first responders arrived on scene to find both individuals suffered serious injuries. Paramedics immediately transported the victims to Level I Trauma Center Advocated Lutheran General Hospital. Police said Monday afternoon that both remained hospitalized and were in fair to good condition.
The male and female, then believed to be in their 50s, were transported by Arlington Heights Fire Department paramedics in separate ambulances. A neighbor said that two victims were transferred out of the townhouse on gurneys, and that each victim appeared to be conscious and talking.
Police were on scene investigating immediately, and continued through early afternoon for the on-scene investigation with evidence collection. Following the on-scene investigation, Arlington Heights Police Department personnel are actively investigating the incident as an aggravated domestic battery. Arlington Heights Police Department described the incident as an isolated event that did not create risk to the safety of the general public.
