Police Activity for Huntley Shots Fired Investigation: Village of Bartlett Alerts Residents to “Close Garages” and “Stay Inside Residences”

... #ad▼

The Village of Bartlett announced at 6:01 p.m. Monday, July 18, 2022 that Bartlett police officers are attempting to locate a subject that is at large near West Bartlett Road and Route 25. The subject is described as a Male/Hispanic in his early 20’s wearing a white shirt and black shorts. The male subject at large is considered to be armed and dangerous. He was last seen northbound on foot from Miles Parkway near West Bartlett Road and Route 25. There will be heavy police presence in the area, according to the Village of Bartlett. Police advised residents in Bartlett to close their garage doors and stay inside their residences until further notice.

The Village of Bartlett asked residents to call 9-1-1 “if you observe the suspect” and stated, “DO NOT APPROACH HIM.”

The message from the Village of Bartlett did not indicate why the subject was being sought, and did not indicate whether he is a suspect in a crime.

Also, the official Facebook account and the official Twitter account for the Village of Bartlett Police Department made no mention of the incident. Bartlett residents should be aware they were alerted of the police activity about one hour after it began.

The activity began in Bartlett about 4:58 p.m. when Elgin police were in pursuit eastbound on West Bartlett Road into Bartlett. Elgin police were in pursuit of a vehicle and suspects believed to be involved in a shooting in Huntley.

Suspect(s) may have crashed a car in a field and then got into a box truck — stealing the box truck. Police are looking for the stolen box truck. A suspect or the suspects were fleeing in the box truck about 90 MPH. One might have fled on foot in the area of Miles Parkway. Initially it was unknown if one or both suspects got into a white construction box truck — stealing it and fleeing in it.

In addition to the suspect wearing a white shirt and black shorts, there may be a second subject description — that suspect wearing a black shirt and black shorts.

Hanover Park police officers, Bartlett police officers and Hanover Park police officers became involved while assisting Elgin police officers.

Multiple police agencies in the west suburbs are also searching for a suspect accused of aggravated discharge of a firearm “shots fired” … described as a male/black suspect, age 27, 5’7″ 180 LBS wearing a white tank top, gray shorts, and missing one tennis shoe. This was also believed to be a suspect in the Huntley shots fired call.

The box truck was reported traveling the wrong way eastbound in the westbound lanes of I-290 from York Road at about 5:28 p.m., and was recovered at Lake Street and McNair Avenue in Addison Township by about 6:49 p.m.

The truck was located by 7:44 p.m., but there was no confirmation that a suspect was located at 7:44 p.m. K-9 units were dispatched to the area of Lake Street and McNair in Addison Township — presumably one or more suspects are at large on foot in the area of Lake Street and McNair Avenue.
