The Lake County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Group on Friday, July 22, 2022 concluded a long-term drug trafficking investigation. The investigation resulted in the arrest of Antonio R. Perez-Amezquita, 36, of the 0-100 block of Cottonwood Road, Northbrook.
A Lake County Judge authorized a search warrant on Thursday, July 21, 2022, a for a business operated by Perez-Amezquita in the 800 block of Grand Avenue, Ingleside. Special Investigations Group Detectives sized nearly 1,000 grams of cocaine along with a firearm, drug packaging material, and over $20,000.00 of drug money during the search warrant.
Perez-Amezquita was subsequently charged with:
Unlawful Possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute (super class x felony)
Armed violence (class x felony)
Unlawful possession of a controlled substance (class 1 felony)
Sheriff John D. Idleburg said, “Our Special Investigations Group continues to aggressively pursue violent offenders and those trafficking drugs in Lake County. We have zero tolerance for violence and drug trafficking in our community.”
Perez-Amezquita’s bond was set at $50,000.00. He posted bond on July 23rd and is due back in court on July 28, 2022 at 9:00 a.m. in courtroom T020.
All defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
