Police, firefighters and paramedics from Wheeling responded about 5:02 a.m. Saturday, July 30, 2022 to a report of a shooting in the block of 800 South Fletcher Drive in Wheeling.
Wheeling police confirmed the scene was secure by 5:05 a.m. Initially police discovered that three people were shot in a drive-by shooting. By 5:12 a.m. police and firefighters discovered that five people were shot, and a total of five ambulances were dispatched to the scene.
According to RED Center fire dispatch, 5 ambulances were dispatched to the scene. A Northbrook ambulance was the fifth ambulance at the scene.
The conditions of the shooting victims were not initially known, although the fifth victim appeared to be managed by paramedics for non-life-threatening injuries. This report is a breaking news report published before the number of people shot was confirmed by officials.
