Police, firefighters, and paramedics from Arlington Heights responded about 9:53 p.m. Sunday, July 3, 2022 to a report of a fire in a large construction dumpster at Orchard Evangelical Free Church, 1330 North Douglas Avenue in Arlington Heights.
The fire was one of many outdoor fires caused by fireworks or intentionally set fires in the northwest suburbs and Chicagoland. Locally, Palatine and Buffalo Grove also extinguished outdoor fires.
The fire in the dumpster at Orchard Evangelical Free Church involved cardboard and carpeting material. Firefighters used a deck gun from Engine 2, and later a handline to extinguish the fire. The 750-gallon water tank in the fire engine was refilled at least twice to provide enough water to extinguish the fire.
The information in this article is an early report published before any summary information was confirmed or released by police or fire authorities or witness on the scene.
