Illinois State Police troopers, and firefighters and paramedics from Palatine Fire Department responded about 7:46 a.m. Friday, June 17, 2022 to a crash involving two trucks and possibly a third vehicle in the northbound lanes of Route 53 north of Dundee Road.
The driver of the box truck was injured, and transported to a nearby hospital. The semi-trailer truck was jackknifed, and the box truck rolled onto the driver’s side and slid on mud and grass about 30 yards on the inside shoulder and wide grassy median of the Route 53 spur between Dundee Road and Lake Cook Road. All northbound lanes were shut down, but southbound lanes were not affected, gapers’ slowdowns and a few close calls for secondary crashes. The crash location was also defined as two miles north of Palatine Road for the southbound traffic.
