Police from Arlington Heights responded about 12:15 a.m. Tuesday, May 31, 2022 to a report of a disturbance involving a large crowd of mysterious partygoers at Arlington One Apartments, 3400 West Stonegate Boulevard in Arlington Heights. Two residents at the building said they have an idea who is letting the crowd of people in the building, but did not specify because they were not sure.

A witness who lives at the building told CARDINAL NEWS that a large crowd of teens and young adults was partying at the Sky Lounge at the top floor roof of the building. The witness said the disturbance early Tuesday morning was the second or third party in the past few days.

Drivers of at least 50 cars entered the parking lots near the building on the west side and east side of the 13-story high-rise apartment building beginning around 10:30 p.m. Many people were loitering in areas where the parking lots were not well lit. Then streams of people entered the building with lines of people waiting at the elevators to head to the top floor. Many of the people were carrying stuffed backpacks on their backs — after retrieving belongings from the trunks of cars.

About 50 to 100 people entered the building and were partying at the Sky Lounge — a private luxury deck with lounge chairs, tables, fireplaces, and grills — around midnight Monday/Tuesday.

One resident asked a group of people in the crowd how they got in the building, and the group replied negatively with foul language directed at the resident. The resident said they chased the people out of the building. Some type of building alarm became activated at one point, but apparently did not activate on all floors. A couple of residents were confused about what that alarm actually meant.

Several acts of criminal damage appeared at the Sky Lounge. The One Arlington Apartments resident reported a table was overturned and damaged. Bottles of liquor and empty cans were scattered in the interior Sky Lounge and the roof deck sky lounge. A tropical plant was also overturned and damaged, and a cigarette burn was discovered at the bar in the interior Sky Lounge.

A hand sanitizer was pulled off a wall in an elevator, and another hand sanitizer was pulled of a wall in the Sky Lounge. Both were left on the floor under their mount position. Only one of the building’s three elevators from the first floor lobby was operating. The inside Sky Lounge and lobby reeked of a skunk-like marijuana odor.

When police arrived, the people in the crowed left rapidly, but a few hung around and attempted to re-enter. Police told the stragglers they need to leave the property because they were trespassing.

A witness reported at least 10 police units responded to the scene. In addition to Arlington Heights police on the scene, there were also Palatine police officers and Rolling Meadows police officers that responded to the scene.

Before police arrived, two females were physically fighting in the driveway in front of One Arlington Apartments on Stonegate Boulevard.

There were no reported injuries, and no arrests. One resident said they were afraid for their safety, and were upset with the apartment management that they weren’t keeping this situation under control.

According to online marketplace Apartments.com by CoStar Group, monthly rent at One Arlington ranges from $1,599 to $4,154. Residents at the scene early Tuesday morning said a recent price hike is bringing the penthouse apartments up to about $4,500 per month.
