Cook County Sheriff’s deputies and firefighters and paramedics from Elk Grove Township Fire Protection District and Elk Grove Village Fire Department responded about 7:28 p.m. Wednesday, May 4, 2022 to a report that a 14 year-old male was shot in the head in the block of 400 Touhy Avenue in the Blackhawk Estates mobile home park near Des Plaines and Elk Grove Village.
Cook County Sheriff’s deputies arrived first and discovered a 14 year-old male unresponsive and not breathing in the middle of the street. Cook County Sheriff’s deputies confirmed the scene was secure by 7:32 p.m.
The teen boy was pronounced dead at the scene.
A large crowd surrounded the scene while Cook County Sheriff’s deputies, Elk Grove Village police officers and the Blackhawk Estates private security firm secured the scene and provided crowd control.
Initial investigation by the Cook County Sheriff’s Office indicates the teen boy was walking with another teen in the block of 400 Touhy Avenue in the mobile home community when the driver of a dark-colored SUV pulled up near the teen, and someone inside the SUV fired multiple shots at the teen.
