Police, firefighters and paramedics from Waukegan responded about 9:00 p.m. Sunday, April 10, 2022 to reports shots fired and two shooting victims and separate locations. One shooting victim was located in the block of 800 8th Street, and another shooting victim was located in the block of 600 South Jackson Street in Waukegan.
Witnesses posting on social media and providing tips reported hearing up to 30 gunshots.
Waukegan police are also investigating a crash that occurred at Belvidere Road and Lewis Avenue that was likely related to a “rolling shooting” between two or more vehicles. There may have been another scene at Belvidere Road and Glen Rock Avenue (not confirmed).
A ring camera video also captured two or three vehicles speeding by a residence where the ring camera was installed. There is a popping noise heard on the video with a lot of other noise, but it is difficult to determine whether the popping noise involves gunshots or driving on a flat tire or both. One of the vehicles appears to be smoking.
