Police, firefighters and paramedics from North Chicago responded about 10:38 p.m. Sunday, April 3, 2022 to a report of a pedestrian hit by a vehicle at Route 41 and Route 137 in North Chicago.
Police and paramedics discovered a man down in the roadway, apparently struck in the northbound lanes of Route 41. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team (MCAT) was assigned to the scene to assist with the investigation, along with the Lake County Coroner’s Office and the North Chicago Police Department. Lake Villa police were also on scene.
Route 41 is nine lanes across including two left turn lanes and one right turn lane on northbound Route 41 (Skokie Highway) south of Route 137 (Buckley Road); and two left turn lanes and one right turn lane on southbound Route 41 north of Route 137. Railroad tracks parallel to Route 41 cross Route 137 just east of Route 41.
The identity of the victim was not initially released pending notification of his family.
