CRASH I-80 EAST OF HOUBOLT RD/HOLLYWOOD RD

Illinois State Police, firefighters and paramedics from the Joliet area responded about 3:38 p.m. Tuesday, April 19, 2022 to a report of a crash involving two semi-trailer trucks near the left shoulder on I-80 EAST near Joliet.
The driver of one of the semi-trailer trucks was seriously injured when one semi-trailer rear-ended another semi-trailer truck. Two or three cows were ejected off of a cattle trailer truck. The driver of the truck was transported to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The first Illinois State Trooper discovered a man down in the roadway, three cows down on the roadway, and ten to 12 cows walking eastbound in the eastbound lanes of I-80.
Shots were fired as Illinois State Trooper needed to put some of the cows down on Interstate 80. Three cows were down, injured in the crash in the eastbound lanes of I-80. There are ten cows being walked
Initially westbound I-80 traffic was getting by on the shoulders, but eastbound I-80 was completely shut down
Houbolt Road and Larkin Avenue shutdown points for I-80 EAST.
