Police, firefighters, and paramedics from Wood Dale responded about 1:11 a.m. Sunday, March 6, 2022 to a report of shots fired and then victims shot at the Wood Dale Bowl, 155 West Irving Park Road in Wood Dale.
Wood Dale police arrived and attempted to locate the wounded while also attempting to locate the shooter or shooter if they were still on scene. Numerous people fled the scene in cars and on foot as police arrived within minutes. The police station is just around the corner on Wood Dale Road just north of Irving Park Road. Police officers from Bensenville, Itasca, Elmhurst, and the DuPage County Sheriff’s office responded immediately.
Police worked to attempt to secure the scene so that wound people could be located and connected with paramedics. However, there was a lot of confusion inside the bowling alley building. A large perimeter with yellow crime scene tape was set up outside, west of the building, and also northeast of the building. Irving Park Road was also closed in both directions.
According to the Wood Dale Police Department, members of the DuPage County MERIT major crimes and forensics investigations unit were contacted to assist with the investigation. Wood Dale police acknowledged that several neighboring law enforcement agencies also arrived immediately to assist with the initial shooting incident response.
The initial police investigation indicated that an argument and fight among two groups of men escalated to one or more shooter firing multiple shots.
The three shooting victims were transported to three area hospitals.
A 24 year-old male from Chicago was wounded in the leg and transported to Level 1 Trauma Center Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge where he was listed in stable condition.
A 30 year-old male from Chicago was wounded in the arm and transported to Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village where he was treated and released.
A 23 year-old male from Chicago was wounded in the leg and transported to Level 1 Trauma Center Loyola Medicine in Maywood.
