Police, firefighters and paramedics from Arlington Heights responded about 2:10 a.m. Sunday, March 27, 2022 to a report of a house fire near Euclid Avenue and Prindle Avenue in Arlington Heights. A neighbor reported seeing flames from a house nearby. Firefighters also received a report, before they arrived, that a second-story balcony had alreqdy collapsed from the fire damage. Based on that report, the fire was upgraded to a working fire response.
Engine 2’s crew on arrival reported a 2-story home with heavy fire showing from the front of the house. Firefighters immediately went to work on exterior fire attack.
Engine 2’s crew at about 2:21 a.m. reported they spoke with the homeowner, and were told that no one was inside. By about 2:25 a.m., three occupants of the house were assisted with walking to the parking lot of the First United Methodist Church, where a paramedic crew with a Prospect Heights Fire Protection District ambulance were standing by for any injured victims. Two of the residents of the home suffered fire-related injuries, and all three were evaluated for possible smoke inhalation. They were transported to Northwest Community Hospital by Prospect Heights Fire Protection District paramedics. The conditions of the three victims were initially believed to be non-life-threatening.
Two additional ambulances were dispatched to the scene. A Mount Prospect Fire Department ambulance and a Prospect Heights Fire Protection District ambulance were assigned to the working fire.
The bulk of the fire was reported knocked by about 2:39 a.m. except for fire in the roof ridge near the rear of the house, and fire in the garage at the front of the house.
Firefighters from Mount Prospect, Prospect Heights and Rolling Meadows responded to the scene. Firefighters from Palatine and Schaumburg stood by in Arlington Heights fire stations to protect the rest of the Village of Arlington Heights.
