Arlington Heights woke up to one inch of snow on lawns, but there was sparse precipitation on pavement. If you have an asphalt driveway, you probably have very little if any snow on your driveway. If you have a concrete driveway you might have about one- half inch of slushy snow.
Roads are slippery, especially on rural roads. Barrington-Countryside firefighters and paramedics responded to two morning rush hour crashes before 7:00 a.m. Arlington Heights snowfall was 1.0 inch on grass, about 0.5 inches on cement pavement, and practically zero on asphalt on driveways and streets.
NWS Chicago expects a possibly redevelopment of snow, which has the potential to drop about 1.2″ of additional snow. However, radar shows diminishing precipitation over northern Illinois, and we’re in the period when snowfall was supposed to have re-developed. Either the snow is late developing or the redevelopment is going to be a total bust, and there will be very little additional snow accumulation.
