A Lake County jury on Tuesday, March 29, 2022 at 5:00 p.m. found Lynell P. Glover guilty of second-degree murder and aggravated assault after he shot twin 17 year-old males, who had stolen his car. One of the Carol Stream twins was shot dead, and the other was wounded in the leg.
Anthony Awad was shot three times and died. Jonathan Awad was shot once in the leg and survived.
Glover’s attorneys argued that Glover wrestled the teens’ gun from one of the teens and shot them with their own gun in self-defense. The prosecution argued that Glover brought his own gun, shot the teens when they attempted to run away, and then hid the gun.
“Mr. Glover started the fight, shot the boys after the altercation, and then hid the gun afterwards. The jury correctly saw that Mr. Glover was wrong to take the law into his own hands.”
— Lake County State’s Attorney Eric Rinehart
