Police officers from Zion Police Department responded about 9:09 p.m. Wednesday, March 16, 2022 to a report of shots fired in the block of 2300 20th Street in Zion. Police officers discovered a 36 year-old male with a gunshot wound to the leg. The man was transported to a nearby hospital and is expected to recover. Police officers received very little cooperation from the involved parties on the scene, according to the Zion Police Department.
A Lake County K-9 Unit was assigned to the scene to assist with the investigation.
Zion police officers served a search warrant on the resident at the scene of the incident and recovered several firearms and evidence of a fired weapon.
The Zion Police Department is still actively investigating several crimes of gun violence. There was an initial call for multiple people shot, but no other wound victims were found last night.
The shooting incident is believed to be related to other acts of violence throughout Zion and other areas. The investigation is still ongoing and anyone with information is encouraged to call:
