Steven N. Salzman, age 58, of the block of 0-99 Dryden Place in Arlington Heights was charged with Aggravated Battery – Nurse While Performing Duties, after he allegedly punched a Harvard Fire Protection District paramedic at Mercyhealth Hospital and Medical Center in Harvard.
Salzman is accused of punching a male paramedic in the chest with a closed fist while he was being treated at the Mercyhealth Hospital and Medical Center located at 901 Grant Street in Harvard.
After Salzman was treated and released from the hospital, he was taken into custody by Harvard police officers, and transported to McHenry County Jail about 2:15 a.m. Sunday, March 20, 2022. Salzman was ordered held on $20,000 bond in McHenry County Jail, where he ramains Tuesday night. The charge of Aggravated Battery – Nurse While Performing Duties is a Class 3 Felony.
Steven N. Salzman is scheduled for his next court date on Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at 9:00 a.m. in McHenry County Court Room 304.
Steven Salzman has a criminal history in Arlington Heights. In February 2008, Salzman was charged with his sixth DUI after he was observed by an Arlington Heights police officer running a red light at Arlington Heights Road and Central Road. As of February 2008, Salzman had been convicted 22 times after being arrested 38 times for offenses including battery and disorderly conduct. Most of the arrests occurred after incidents involving alcohol.
In May 2013, Salzman was accused struggling with loss prevention staff at Mariano’s, 802 East Northwest Highway in Arlington Heights. Allegedly, Salzman and another unidentified male gathered and concealed bottles of liquor in Salzman’s backpack. There was a struggle to detain Salzman before police arrived. Salzman was arrested and charged with felony retail theft.
