Palatine police responded around 4:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Friday, February 11, 2022 to a report of shots fired in the area of a single-family residence neighborhood on Westmoreland Drive between Old Hicks Road and the intersection of Old Hicks Road and Nichols Road/Westmoreland Drive in Palatine.
Police blocked Westmoreland Drive and concentrated their investigation at the south end of Westmoreland Drive between Haig Court and Old Hicks Road in Palatine.
Police were searching from approximately 5:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. for casings, and were searching for damage to homes that may have been struck by bullets. Gunfire may have been exchanged between a person in a car and a pedestrian walking in the neighborhood.
Initially there were no reported injuries, and there was no word on any suspects
