Police, firefighters and paramedics from Lake Villa responded about 4:57 p.m. Monday, February 14, 2021 to a report of a fire in a barn in the block of 23000 West Petite Lake in Lake Villa. There was a report that there were animals in the barn, but no people in the barn. Initial reports did not indicate the safety of the animals located at the barn.
Firefighters reported seeing a smoke header while responding about 5:01 p.m., and reported they would be laying 5-inch hose from Petite Lake.
The first firefighters on scene reported a fully-involved barn fire.
Petite Lake Road was closed between Milwaukee Avenue and Fairfield Road.
A Still Alarm for Box #24-4T was activated at 5:07 p.m., and then a Box Alarm was immediately requested.
A MABAS Division 4 Box Alarm for Box #24-4T was activated at 5:10 p.m.
Firefighters, paramedics and/or command officers from Antioch, McHenry, Libertyville, Round Lake, Spring Grove, and Wauconda were assigned to the scene.
Firefighters from Beach Park, and Zion were assigned to stand by in Lake Villa fire station(s).
The fire was upgraded to a Second Alarm for Tenders Only (Tankers Only) about 5:22 p.m.
Firefighters with Tenders from Salem Lakes and Newport were assigned to the scene.
