Police from Algonquin and firefighter/paramedics from Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District responded about 9:17 p.m.. Thursday, February 3, 2021 to a report of a rollover crash with injuries in the block of 1100 Algonquin Road (Algonquin Road and Pyott Road in Lake in the Hills).
Battalion 1 from the fire district on arrival reported on victim traumatic arrest and that he was checking for any additional victims. The Battalion Chief discovered a pickup truck on the roof in a single vehicle crash. The driver of the pickup truck was pronounced dead at the scene.
Initial investigation indicates the driver of the pickup truck lost control of the truck, hit a guardrail, and the truck flipped.
The pickup truck was Toyota Tacoma, and there was significant collapse of the front of the roof and both A-posts or A pillars. Initially authorities did not report whether the driver was wearing a seat belt or whether an ejection occurred.
An extended crash investigation closed the intersection until about 2:30 a.m. Thursday.
