Arlington Heights police responded about 7:20 p.m. Thursday, February 3, 2022 to a call for assistance from Elmhurst police officers who were tracking a burglary suspect. Elmhurst police were apparently following the suspect’s activities for the evening. The burglary suspect was tracked to Arlington Heights Buick GMC, 777 West Dundee Road in Arlington Heights, where Elmhurst under cover police officers allegedly observed the suspect in the act of stealing tires, according to a witness.
When Elmhurst police moved in to arrest the suspect, the suspect resisted, and Arlington Heights police officers were called in to assist with the arrest. The suspect was eventually detained and arrested.
The suspect was transported to Northwest Community Hospital in custody by Arlington Heights Fire Department paramedics. Initially it was unknown whether a taser was deployed, but a struggle occurred at the dealership property before the suspect was detained.
The suspect’s vehicle — a Toyota Highlander — was towed to a police holding area by an Elmhurst area towing company.

Initially, this suspect is not known to be connected to an overnight commercial burglary that occurred at Arlington Heights Buick GMC around 3:00 a.m. Sunday, January 30, 2022; however, the investigation is ongoing and a complete comprehensive look at the suspect has not been completed.
