Illinois State Police and firefighters and paramedics from Northbrook and Highland Park responded about 6:53 p.m. Saturday, January 8, 2021 to a report of a multi-vehicle crash with injuries on northbound I-94 west near Lake Cook Road in Northbrook. Icy conditions road conditions were reported in the area — reported as an ice rink. At least eight vehicles were involved in the crash.
Firefighters on arrival reported the crash was on northbound I-94 north and south of Lake Cook Road overpass. Four additional ambulances were requested by 7:03 p.m
A MABAS Division 3 EMS Box Alarm #11-E1 was activated for the multiple vehicle crash at 7:11 p.m. Firefighters, paramedics and/or command officers from Deerfield, Glencoe, Glenview, Niles, Prospect Heights, Skokie, and Winettka were assigned to the scene.
Firefighters, paramedics and/or command officers from Niles, Prospect Heights, and Wilmette were assigned to stand by in Northbrook fire stations.
The EMS Box Alarm was struck out by 7:25 p.m.
Northbound I-94 was shut down immediately after the report of the crash.
