Police and firefighter/paramedics from Winnetka responded about 7:23 p.m. Monday, December 13, 2021 to a report of crash with injuries at Willow Road and Hibbard Road in Winnetka. Police, firefighters, and paramedics received a report of a crashed vehicle fully involved with fire with people trapped inside the vehicle. A second ambulance was dispatched by 7:26 p.m. A third ambulance was dispatched by 7:30 p.m.




Fire command reported two vehicles involved in the crash with entrapment, and the fire knocked by 7:32 p.m.

One patient was transported to Evanston Hospital. A second patient was transported to NorthShore Skokie Hospital. A third patient was transported to an undisclosed hospital.

The head-on crash was located on Willow Road just west of Hibbard Road.

An extended crash investigation was ongoing late Monday night. The traffic crash is being investigated by the Winnetka Police Department and the Major Case Assistance Team – Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction (MCAT-STAR) Team.

Willow Road was closed between Forest Way and Auburn Avenue. Hibbard Road was closed between Ash Street and Sunset Road.
