Police, firefighters, and paramedics from Highland Park responded about 5:31 p.m. Sunday, December 26, 2021 to a report of a house fire in the block of 1100 Ridgewood Drive in Highland Park.
Firefighters on arrival reported heavy fire from the left side of the house, viewed from the street. Firefighters led out with a hand lines and put a ground ladder up, working to extinguish the fire and check for extension.
Highland Park Battalion 33 reported the fire was extinguished by 5:40 p.m. The fire was summarized as an exterior fire involving a 2-story brick home, 30×50 feet.
Firefighters extinguished the fire with a hand line and contained the fire to the exterior. The fire damage a porch. Initially the cause of the fire was no available.
Firefighters from Deerfield-Bannockburn, Lincolnshire-Riverwoods, Northbrook, Northfield, and Winnetka-Kenilworth were assigned mutual aid at the scene.
According to the National Weather Service Office at Waukegan Regional Airport at 4:55 p.m. wind was from the East at 12 MPH and gusting to 22 MPH. At 5:55 p.m. wind was from the East at 13 MPH with no gusts reported.
