Antioch police responded about 10:30 p.m. Friday, December 17, 2021, to a report of a burglary in progress at the Jewel-Osco Pharmacy, 966 Route 59 in Antioch. The offender, 42-year-old Justin Persha of Antioch, was reported to have forced entry into the closed pharmacy. An alert employee was able to provide responding officers with a description and the direction of travel for Persha as he fled. Responding officers located Persha near the intersection of Hillside Avenue and Orchard Street, where he was taken into custody without incident. Persha initially provided a false name to officers. Upon confirming his identity through fingerprint identification, it was discovered Persha had an arrest warrant out of Wisconsin for a probation violation.
In addition to being charged with being a Fugitive from Justice, Persha was charged with …
• Class 2 Felony Burglary, which is punishable by 3 to 7 years imprisonment, and a fine of up to $25,000.00
• Class 4 Felony Obstructing Justice, which is punishable by 1 to 3 years imprisonment, and a fine of up to $25,000.00.
Persha appeared before a Lake County Judge in Bond Court, where he was ordered held in the Lake County Jail on a $150,000.00 bond.
All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
