Waukesha Police Chief Daniel Thompson announced at a press conference at about 1:05 p.m. Monday, November 22, 2021 that Darrel E. Brooks is the suspect connected to the vehicle-ramming incident in Waukesha Sunday, November 21, 2021. He is initially charged with 5 counts of First Degree intentional homicide. He said additional charges are likely to follow.
Brooks was taken into custody a short distance from the scene. He was not injured, according Police Chief Daniel Thompson. Police believe Brooks acted alone, and that the incident is not a terrorist incident.
The criminal history for Darrel Edward Brooks, Jr. includes multiple felonies and misdemeanors going back to 1999. Brooks had one other recent case already underway in November 2021. Brooks was accused, arrested and charged for a crime involving felony endangerment with a vehicle in a domestic abuse disturbance. Darrell Brooks, Jr was accused of intentionally trying to run over a female victim (“his girlfriend”) in a BP gas station lot at 7311 West Capitol Drive in Milwaukee during a domestic disturbance on November 2, 2021. On November 5, 2021, the Milwaukee County Court ordered defendant Darrell Edward Brooks turned over to Justice Point for SUPERVISION Level 5. Defendant Darrell Brooks, Jr. was advised that if released from custody it is a requirement to attend all future court proceedings. A rapper video “MathBoi Fly HALF A TIKKET produced by DeeMarc – Darrell E. Brooks Waukesha” has been re-posted by Chadwick Goddard channel and some other YouTube channels. The Chadwick Goddard channel states that YouTube removed the original “music” video featuring Darrell E. Brooks. YouTube may let it remain posted since it is now posted in the context of a new event. The video apparently displays the burgundy Ford Escort SUV that was used at the Waukesha Christmas Parade. Brooks and another unknown character in the video display weapons at various points in the video.
