Former Super Bowl XX Chicago Bears defensive lineman and Pro Football Hall of Fame member Dan Hampton was arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated (OWI) earlier this month in Winfield in Lake County Indiana, according to Winfield Police Department.
Police in Winfield, where Hampton resides in northwest Indiana, arrested the Super Bowl XX champion player on a suspected OWI charge Saturday, November 20, 2021 according to the Lake County Sheriff’s Department.
Hampton was booked into the Lake County (Indiana) Jail at 11:59 p.m. and released at 7:45 a.m. Sunday morning, November 21, 2021.
Hampton played Defensive Tackle and Defensive End in the NFL, and his NFL career history from 1979 to 1990 was solely with the Chicago Bears. Hampton hosts a Bears postgame show with former Chicago Bears Defensive End Ed O’Bradovich on “The Hamp & O’B Show” on WGN-AM.
Dan Hampton and his band, the Chicago 6, were active in June 2021 to raise funds to help teammate Steve “Mongo” McMichael in his battle with ALS. MicMichael was diagnosed with ALS in January.
Steve McMichael — a Super Bowl XX veteran, played with Hampton on the Chicago Bears from 1981-90. McMichael was diagnosed with ALS in January 2021 at the Mayo Clinic. McMichael was also a band member with Chicago 6 until he couldn’t perform because of ALS symptoms. The fundraiser “Mongopalooza” was at McMichael’s restaurant, Mongo McMichaels at 1101 North Independence Boulevard in Romeoville on Saturday, June 5, 2021.
