Evanston police, firefighters and paramedics responded about 12:27 p.m. Monday, November 15, 2021 to a report of an apartment fire at 2215 Central Street for a multi-story residential structure.
First arriving companies responded within minutes, encountering moderate smoke and flames visible from the street of the 3-story brick apartment building. Due to the quick response of the Evanston Fire Department and other agencies, firefighters contained the fire to the unit of origin. The American Red Cross provided emergency services for two displaced residents.
Several residential units in the apartment building were damaged by smoke and water.
A MABAS Division 3 Box Alarm #21F-625 for investigators was activated at 12:54 p.m. The Evanston Fire Department utilized the MABAS BOX card system, bringing in several departments from neighboring communities to assist with the fire. There were no reported civilian or firefighter injuries, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
