The threat of severe thunderstorms with damaging winds and isolated hail exists Monday, October 11, 2021 with the chance of a few tornadoes in all of northern Illinois, according to the NWS Chicago and the NWS Storm Prediction Center. All of Chicagoland and northern Illinois is in a tornado outlook zone that plots a 5% probability of a tornado within 25 miles of any point in Chicagoland or northern Illinois.
Gusty winds of up to 30 to 40 MPH from the South are possible ahead of the storms.
Arlington Heights and nearby communities including western Lake County are likely to experience the onset of threat of severe weather between 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. McHenry County, Kane County and DeKalb County will likely experience severe weather between 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.
Severe weather is forecast to be exiting northeast Illinois including the Lake Michigan shoreline by about 9:00 p.m. or 10:00 p.m.
Weather Radar) shows are large area of thunderstorms in western Illinois for the entire length of the state from north to south. Storm cells are moving north-northeast while the entire complex of storms is moving slowly west to east. Storms were just arriving in the Rockford area about 10:30 a.m.
