A strong omega block (a large scale rotating upward motion of air or Upward Vertical Velocity) centered over the Midwest will provide another day of seasonably warm and fair weather across northern Illinois and northwest Indiana today, according to the National Weather Service. The nice weather pattern is expected to break down over the weekend with more unsettled conditions. A cold front is forecast to approach Chicagoland on Sunday, but a period of scattered showers and thunderstorms could begin as early as Saturday about 1:00 p.m.
Areas near Lake Michigan will be limited to temperatures in the 70s while the rest of Chicagoland will enjoy another day of temperatures in the low 80s.
Weather Radar in northeast Illinois is clear at 7:00 a.m.
