Police, firefighters, and paramedics from Elk Grove Village responded about 6:16 a.m. Wednesday, October 13, 2021 to a report that a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle at Higgins Road and Landmeier Road in Elk Grove Village.
Police and paramedics on arrival discovered a woman down in the road in cardiac arrest. A witness reported CPR being administered at the scene. Paramedics transported the patient to Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village.
According to Elk Grove Village Police Department. a 63 year-old woman was struck by a vehicle. Paramedics treated the woman, but she was pronounced dead at Alexian Brothers Medical Center. The driver of the vehicle drove away from the scene, but a Good Samaritan stopped to try to help. Initially, there was no description available for the vehicle that hit the woman. A red light camera and other cameras are located in the area. The vehicle that struck the woman may have front-end or passenger side damage.
Road blocks in the area were set up, causing traffic delays for the duration of the extended crash investigation. Higgins Road was closed between Landmeier Road and Elmhurst Road, and was reopened about 11:45 a.m.
