Illinois State Police troopers, and police, firefighters and paramedics from Arlington Heights responded about 8:02 a.m. Monday, September 27, 2021 to a report of a rollover truck crash with injuries on eastbound Palatine Road just east of the ramp from Route 53 to Palatine Road in Arlington Heights.
The first fire crew on arrival reported the truck driver was injured inside the truck. The driver was extricated through the front window of the truck cab, and treated by paramedics in the ambulance, and then transported to a local hospital.
The exit ramp from northbound Route 53 was closed and eastbound Palatine Road was closed until about 10:45 a.m. Monday. The semi-trailer dump truck was carrying broken concrete, which was spread across the eastbound lanes of Palatine Road during the rollover crash. Firefighters stopped leaking diesel fuel from spreading by using a yellow portable containment pool placed under the leak. Other fluid(s) may also have been leaking.
The truck driver was apparently driving on the exit ramp from northbound Route 53 to eastbound Palatine Road when the semi-trailer dump truck rolled to the driver’s side of the truck.
The investigation is being conducted by the Illinois State Police. Arlington Heights police officers worked on traffic control.
