Police, firefighters and paramedics from Wheeling responded about 11:35 a.m. Saturday, September 18, 2021 to a report of multiple activated fire alarms after a dump truck took down a power line and snapped a pole at 571 Wheeling Road in Wheeling. En route to the multiple alarms, police and firefighters discovered the power line brought down by the dump truck.
Firefighters discovered a live power line down, and requested ComEd to the scene. ComEd arrived immediately. Wheeling Road was blocked in both directions in the area of Wheeling Road between Hintz Road and Dundee Road.
A widespread power outage was reported, and ComEd reported 465 customers were without power.
