Effective in September 2021, former Arlington Heights Fire Department EMS Division Commander David Schultz is Interim Fire Chief for the Village of Arlington Heights. Fire Chief David Schultz retired from the Arlington Heights Fire Department in June 2011, but also served as Interim Fire Chief for the Village of Roselle from April 2014 to June 2015. David Schultz began his assignment as Interim Fire Chief for Arlington Heights on Monday, September 27, 2021.
While serving the Arlington Heights Fire Department as EMS Division Commander prior to his retirement in 2011, Schultz was responsible for Communications logistics, including voice and data over analog and digital platforms, and integration of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for use by the Arlington Heights Fire Department.
Prior to his promotion as EMS Division Commander, Schultz served several years as a 24-hour Shift Commander — a position currently known as Battalion Chief.
Schultz has also served as Santa Claus for the annual Rotary Santa 5K Run in downtown Arlington Heights in recent years, and is active with the Rotary Club of Arlington Heights.
Fire Chief Andrew Larson, who was named Fire Chief on February 19, 2019, following Chief Ken Koeppen’s retirement, was on leave earlier this year and continues to be on leave from the Arlington Heights Fire Department. Fire Chief Andrew Larson’s leave has not been announced by the Village of Arlington Heights, and is NOT due to any reason related to performance or ethics issues.
On September 28, 2021, the Village of Arlington Heights lists Andrew Larson as Fire Chief on the official website.
