Police, firefighters and paramedics from Wheeling responded about 11:52 p.m. Thursday, August 12, 2021 to a report of a shooting in the block of 400 Pleasant Run Drive in Wheeling at the Winetree Apartments complex.
Police secured the scene by about 12:00 a.m.
Police and paramedics on arrival discovered that two people were sitting inside an SUV in an apartment parking lot on the west side of an apartment building, closer to Equestrian Drive than Pleasant Run Drive, when two masked offenders wearing hoodies fired about 10 shots into the white SUV.

Witnesses at the scene report that the Wheeling ambulance left the scene without lights or sirens after paramedics assessed the two people in the SUV. Police did not release any information about the case, but apparently there were no gunshot wounds.
The white SUV had several large size bullet holes near the front, passenger side and front right fender.
On Wheeling Police Department social media (Facebook and Twitter) as of Monday, August 16, 2021 there was no mention about the shots fired incident, whether the shots fired involved an ‘isolated’ incident, or whether any suspects were in custody. There was also no request from the Wheeling Police Department for any witnesses to provide information or provide security images from cameras in the neighborhood.
