South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem responds to Dr. Fauci targeting the state’s Sturgis Motorcycle Rally and discusses the crisis at the southern border on ‘Fox & Friends.’ YouTube Tips ⓘ
South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem criticized Dr. Fauci on Thursday morning August 12, 2021 on FOX & Friends for his alleged political statements that criticize conservatives gatherings, such as the Sturgis biker rally compared to giving a pass to other events with social distancing issues, such the the border crisis at the southern border, President Obama’s birthday party without masks, and large concerts such as Lollapalooza in Chicago as a potential superspreader event.
Later Thursday morning Chicago’s public health expert Dr. Allison Arwady said that there was no evidence that Lollapalooza — attended by 385,000 people was a superspreader event. About 200 people who attended the event tested positive. Health authorities are reporting 0.0004% of vaccinated attendees tested positive and 0.0016% of unvaccinated attendees tested positive. There were no COVID-related hospitalizations or deaths reported related to attendance at Lollapalooza. Proof of vaccination was required for admission to Lollapalooza.
The Sturgis Motorcycle Rally is a motorcycle rally held annually in August in Sturgis, South Dakota, and the surrounding Black Hills region of the United States. Attendance has historically been around 500,000 people, reaching a high of over 700,000 in 2015. The event takes place over 10 days and generates around $800 million in annual revenue.
