Police from Rolling Meadows responded about 5:30 a.m. Sunday, August 15, 2021 to a report of shots fired at a house in the block of 3100 Saint James Street in Rolling Meadows.
A house was struck by bullets, and a dark colored sedan was involved, according to the Rolling Meadows Police Department.
The Rolling Meadows neighborhood is located directly south of the intersection of Euclid Avenue and Salt Creek Lane, but the neighborhood does not have an exit onto Euclid Avenue. The neighborhood is also located directly north of Cardinal Drive Church of Christ. St. James Street in Rolling Meadows is around the same latitude as St. James Street in Arlington Heights, but does not continue uninterrupted into Arlington Heights.
The Rolling Meadows Police Department is asking for the public’s help in the investigation of the shot fired call. Specifically, the Rolling Meadows Police Department is interested in any video surveillance in the area of the block of 3100 Saint James on Sunday, August 15, 2021 at approximately 5:30 a.m.
The Rolling Meadows police department is asking anyone in this area to look at video camera recordings and contact the police department if any video shows anything that may be related to the case, or if any citizens have information about the Rolling Meadows shots fired incident.
Arlington Heights Police Department also opened an investigation involving shots fired with possibly three bullets hitting a parked car in the block of 100 South Reuter Drive in the same time frame as the Rolling Meadows shots fired call. Arlington Heights police were not called until Sunday afternoon after the driver of the car found three bullet holes in the back of his car in the afternoon. The vehicle had been parked unoccupied near Sigwalt Street and Reuter Drive early Sunday morning. The driver of the car may have heard the shots, but he thought the shots may have been fireworks around 5:00 a.m. Sunday, August 15, 2021.
Arlington Heights police detectives are investigating, and a gang crimes units is also working on the case. The Arlington Heights Police Department is also working with the Rolling Meadows Police Department on the two cases to determine whether there is a connection between the two crime scenes. The fastest route connecting the two crime scenes by vehicle is about 1.5 miles, or 5 minutes away at the legal speed limit.
