The Arlington Heights Police Department was recently awarded First Place in the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) Illinois Traffic Safety Challenge for municipal police departments with 101 to 250 sworn officers. The Arlington Heights Police Department also received additional recognition with awards for Occupant Protection (along with Carol Stream Police Department), Alcohol Awareness and Speed Enforcement. The Arlington Heights Police Department also received the Judge’s Choice Award.
The IACP Illinois Traffic Safety Challenge Awards Breakfast was held Friday, Augusts 20, 2021 at the Tinley Park Conventions Center South Pavilion in Tinley Park.
Other specialty awards categories included Bike/Pedestrian Safety (Niles Police Department), Commercial Vehicle Safety (Illinois State Police), Impaired Driving (Carol Stream and Lombard police departments), Railroad Crossing Safety (Morton Grove Police Department), Teen Driving (Tazewell County Sheriff), and Rookie of the Year (Lincolnwood Police Department)
