Police and firefighter/paramedics from Huntley responded about 9:57 p.m. Sunday, July 4, 2021 to a report of a house fire in the block of 10200 Central Park Boulevard in Huntley’s east side.
Huntley FPD Battalion 9 reported a fully-involved fire visible while responding to the fire scene. Battalion 9 on arrival discovered fire showing from the attic of a 2-story single family home. Firefighters attacked the fire initially with a fire engine deck gun and continued in defensive mode while protecting two adjacent fire-exposed homes with water streams. The adjacent homes were at risk of burning and significant loss; however, firefighters limited fire damage to exterior damage only at the adjacent homes.
No injuries were reported.
A MABAS Division 5 Box Alarm #5-940 SOUTH was activated at 10:05 p.m.
Firefighters, paramedics and/or command officers from Barrington FPD, Carpentersville, Crystal Lake, Elgin, Hampshire, and Rutland were assigned to the fire scene.
Firefighters, paramedics and/or command officers from Genoa-Kinsgton and South Barrington were assigned to stand by for Change of Quarters.
Damage to the house structure was initially estimated at $300,000 with a possible total loss. Loss of contents was estimated at $850,000.
Two homes were damaged, one was left uninhabitable, after a fire broke out late Sunday night in Huntley. No reported injuries. It's unclear yet if fireworks were the cause, @HuntleyFireDist is actively investigating. pic.twitter.com/H1qU2p4LJ4
