Police firefighters and paramedics from Corona responded about 11:55 p.m. Monday, July 26, 2021 to a report of a shooting at the Regal Edwards Corona Crossings Theater at 2650 Tuscany Street in Corona, California.
One teen was killed and another was hospitalized after a shooting inside an actual theater area inside the Regal Edwards Corona Crossings Theater.
The shooting happened just before midnight Monday/Tuesday while the victims were watching the movie The Forever Purge, the fifth in the series of The Purge horror film anthology. In The Purge movies the government and law enforcement allows all crime to occur for a half-day annually, without punishment. The description on the Regal Edwards website says that in this latest in the series, “All the rules are broken as a sect of lawless marauders decides that the annual Purge does not stop at daybreak and instead should never end.”.
Investigators were still at the scene during the day on Tuesday for the shooting investigation, while initially no information was available regarding any suspect or suspects.
Corona is located east-southeast of Los Angeles in Riverside County.
