Smoke, Flames Visible from House Fire on Scott Lane Near Nancy Dr, Crystal Lake

Police from Crystal Lake and McHenry County Sheriff’s Office and firefighters and paramedics from Crystal Lake responded about 11:16 a.m. Saturday, July 17, 2021 to a report of a house fire with flames visible from an attached garage and extending to the house in the block of of 6500 Scott Lane in Crystal Lake. Initially, residents reported they were all evacuated, except for a dog. The dog was also rescued from the house as police arrived at about 11:19 a.m. Firefighters while responding reported a header visible, and a MABAS Box Alarm was activated upon sighting of the header about 11:21 a.m.




Engine 341’s crew on arrival about 11:22 a.m. reported a one-story ranch with a fully-involved attached garage fire with fire extending to the house. Firefighters began with a transitional attack. There was also heavy fire at the rear of the house involving the attic when firefighters arrived.

Firefighters had water on the fire by 11:26 a.m.

A MABAS Division 5 Box Alarm #5-371 was activated by 11:22 a.m. Firefighters, paramedics and/or command officers from Algonquin, Cary, Huntley, McHenry, Nunda Township, Wauconda, Wonder Lake, Woodstock, and Union were assigned to the scene.




Firefighters, paramedics and command officers from Barrington-Countryside FPD, Carpentersville, Marengo, and West Dundee were assigned to stand by in Crystal Lake fire stations.

The Box Alarm was upgraded to a second alarm by 11:44 a.m. for tenders only (water tankers). Firefighters from Fox River Grove, McHenry, and Union were assigned to the scene for the Second Alarm.

The Box Alarm was upgraded to a Third Alarm by 11:59 a.m. for tenders only (water tankers). Firefighters from Rutland-Dundee and Spring Grove were assigned to the scene.

The Box Alarm was struck out at 1:38 p.m.
