Illinois State Police and firefighters and paramedics from Rolling Meadows responded about 5:30 p.m. Sunday, June 13, 2021 to a report of a car that hit the center Jersey wall on northbound Route 53 north of Algonquin Road near Rolling Meadows. The crash was located near the merge of the local and express lanes just north of Algonquin Road.
Firefighter/paramedics worked to assess a patient in the sedan.
Several motorists had been following the vehicle and reporting the location of the vehicle, which was allegedly being driven erratically. Motorists suspect the driver was DUI or impaired in some manner.
Illinois State Police arrived on the scene and requested EMS upon arrival. Illinois State Police are investigating whether the incident involves a DUI.
