Police from Grayslake Hainesville and firefighter/paramedics from Round Lake Fire Protection District responded about 11:10 p.m. Sunday, May 31, 2021 to a report of a townhouse fire in the block of 0-99 West Big Horn Drive in Hainesville.
Upon arrival of police and firefighters, fire was showing from one of the units of the 6-unit townhouse row home style building. Fire quickly spread from the garage to the roof of the townhouse building.
All residents were evacuated safely, and initially there were no reported injuries. About 15 people were displaced in the 6-unit building. Initial report is that one townhouse unit was destroyed and a second unit was seriously damaged.
Garage doors in the unit face the opposite side of the front entrance in five of the 6 units in the building. Firefighters prevented the extra-alarm fire from spreading to another similar building nearby.
A MABAS Division NUMBER Box Alarm #26-1 was activated at 11:19 p.m.
Firefighters, paramedics and/or command officers from Countryside, Fox Lake, Grayslake, Gurnee, Lake Villa, Spring Grove were dispatched for mutual aid assignments at the scene.
Firefighters and paramedics from Lake Zurich and McHenry were assigned to provide fire station coverage for Round Lake.
