Police, firefighters and paramedics from Chicago responded about 5:20 p.m. Monday, May 24, 2021 to a report that a Metra train on the Union Pacific Northwest Line hit a pedestrian near the Gladstone Park Metra Station.
Metra Union-Pacific Northwest service was halted near Gladstone Park during the evening Monday for recovery of a pedestrian’s body and investigation of the incident after the pedestrian was hit and killed by a Metra passenger train.
Inbound and outbound trains were halted near Gladstone Park station at Austin Avenue and the Kennedy Expressway after the pedestrian was hit by Metra Train #635.
Police and paramedics determined the pedestrian was dead at the scene, and Metra confirmed Thursday afternoon that a person who was hit by Train #635 died.
Before the pedestrian was hit, Train #635 left downtown Chicago at 4:57 p.m. and had been scheduled to arrive at Arlington Heights at 5:51 p.m. and reach the train’s terminus in Crystal Lake at 6:30 p.m.
